Greer Station

It's all about CenterG.

That was the name of the streetscape and infrastructure project completed in 2020 that transformed the City of Greer’s central business district for the next century.

“There has been tremendous synergy as we moved toward this day, so it seemed natural as work begins in our city center to christen this project CenterG,” City officials said at the groundbreaking.

Today, visitors and businesses alike are reaping the benefits of the project that was five years in the making.

Greer CPW launched the overall project in 2017, repairing and replacing the downtown’s aging infrastructure. Work then moved above ground removing curbs and replacing them with multi-colored pavers and other methods to direct traffic. The removal of curbs also created an open space, allowing the street to be transformed into a pedestrian plaza for special events.

The City improved and resurfaced three parking lots and alleys to provide convenient access to rear entrances at Trade St. businesses. It also opened the Greer's first parking garage adjacent to a new downtown Hampton Inn hotel that was attracted by the downtown renovation.

Complimentary shuttle service in the district makes it easy for shoppers and diners to enjoy door-to-door.

The city also purchased three electric vehicles to shuttle customers throughout Greer Station free of charge during construction. The vehicles began service today.

Historic downtown Greer, perhaps better known simply as Greer Station, covers approximately 12 square blocks with retail, dining, entertainment, and personal and professional service establishments. Visit the Greer Station website for more information.
