The City of Greer is once again providing an opportunity for the public to get rid of hard to dispose of items. Spring Cleaning happens on Saturday, April 27 from 8:00 a.m. - noon. This event is open to people who receive City trash services.
“We will be hosting the Spring Cleaning day at our Convenience Center, which is at 315 Buncombe St.,” Public Services Director Travis Durham said.
Durham says this is a great opportunity for people in Greer to clean out items they can’t normally bring to the Convenience Center.
“There is a need that our citizens and our residents have to get rid of things that we aren’t able to accept on a daily basis,” Durham said.
That’s why several different kinds of vendors will be at this year’s Spring Cleaning.
“We have a vendor there who will take liquid recyclables, whether that's solvents, aerosols, paints, herbicides, fungicides--things of that nature. We'll also have a paper shred truck so if you have those documents or anything in the house paper wise that you may need to get rid of in a secure manner will have that opportunity available. Folks from our Police Department will also be there doing a drug take for those prescription medications that you no longer need or that are expired or that you want to get rid of but don’t want to throw away,” Durham said.
The event is a big success year after year, and Durham says that’s why it’s important they continue to host the opportunity.
“It’s a great thing that that word is getting out and that people are finding out that this is a service that we do offer on an annual basis,” Durham said.
