In order to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the Greer Police Department, the Canine (K-9) Unit provides highly trained canine teams to protect persons and property in Greer.
Canine teams are a valuable tool in law enforcement used for:
Area searches
Building searches
Evidence detection
Narcotics detection
Promoting favorable public relations
Tracking fleeing persons
Tracking missing persons
The primary goal of the Department’s police traffic management program is to promote the safe and expeditious flow of vehicular and pedestrian traffic through effective and efficient traffic law enforcement and delivery of police traffic-related services designed to reduce traffic collisions and their resultant injuries and fatalities.
All officers of this unit have received specialized training from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy in collision investigation and reconstruction. The Traffic Team analyzes statistics and monitors collisions to identify specific problem areas and then conducts enforcement in those areas to enhance public safety and reduce collisions.
